The picture above is from our beach party at work today. This has been an awesome week for me at work, and the party was just the icing on the cake. Some exciting things are happening in my life right now. There’s a little part of me that’s scared and nervous, but I’m mostly very, very excited.

1. I got a promotion! I was offered the position yesterday and, of course, I accepted. I’ll have a new supervisor and I’ll be working with a different team, so it’s going to be a big change, but I’m looking forward to it. I officially start on July 9. That gives me a week to wrap everything up in my current position, and then we’re off the first week of July, so I’ll get a refresher and come back from the break ready to start my new job!

2. We’re moving to Chattanooga. The Boyfriend got one of those job offers that you just can’t turn down. It’s the perfect opportunity for him. He’ll be doing what he loves, making more money, and working with a great company. The only downside is that it requires him to move. Luckily, Chattanooga is only an hour and a half away, and we’re not so rooted in Knoxville that we absolutely can’t pick up and leave.

My company actually has an office in Chattanooga and my new supervisor is located there, so it works out pretty perfectly for me. I’ll able to transfer easily and work more closely with my team. I’ll miss my family like crazy, but they won’t be that far away and it’s an easy drive, so I’m sure I’ll visit them often and vice versa.

I’m ready for a change of scenery, and Chattanooga is a really cool city. We visited the aquarium there a few weeks ago and walked around the city for a while afterward, just taking in all of the sights it has to offer. I fell in love with its vibrant atmosphere and beautiful parks, and the art geek in me got all giddy over the Hunter Museum of American Art. It seemed like there were countless restaurants and things to do. I can see myself being happy there. Plus, it’s really close to Atlanta, which has even more things to do.

It’s actually kind of crazy how everything has just fallen into place. Those are two pretty big transitions and making the changes is going to be a little difficult, but they fit so well together and they both just seem right. Once I’m settled in, I know I’m going to be really happy. I can’t completely explain it, I just feel like I’m moving forward in my life, and I’m satisfied with the way things are going.
